The United Nations climate change summit is currently underway in Poland, with delegates working to replace the Kyoto protocol, which expires in 2012. Any deal is already under pressure from the global economic slowdown. Poland, the host of the talks, relies on coal for more than 90 per cent of its growing energy needs. Mark Seddon travelled to Katowice in the south of the country, to look at the impact of any deal on the mining industry there.
