Pink has teamed up with designer Stella McCartney to call for the ethical use of animals in the fashion industry. The pair launched Peta's latest ad in which the pop star lends her voice to a computer-generated alligator who has lost its skin. The alligator confronts a woman carrying a crocodile-skin handbag and is later joined by a skinned rabbit, voiced by Ricky Gervais, who attempts to get his coat back. At a press conference in Paris, Pink told reporters: "Fur is rampant and it's increasing which is insane to me, with all the alternatives. It's really easy to substitute faux for real and it looks just as good." The ad launch tied in with the unveiling of McCartney's latest pret-a-porter collection for autumn / winter. As a lifelong vegetarian, the designer does not use any leather or fur in her designs and models on her catwalk wore faux leather boots and gloves, as well as looped wool coats that offered an alternative to fur. Pink showered praise on the designer, saying: "Take Stella, she's a perfect example. She is incredibly successful and incredibly respected by her peers. She just chooses to be a little bit more creative and go a little bit further and try a little bit harder. She can probably look at herself a little bit longer in the mirror." Anti-fur protests have been held outside the venues of some shows during Paris Fashion Week, with demonstrators targetting Christian Dior, Vivienne Westwood and Jean Paul Gaultier among others.
