Piers Morgan has hit out at critics of Britain's Got Talent after star Susan Boyle was taken ill. The 48-year-old Scottish singing sensation, who came second in the final of the ITV1 talent show, is recovering in the Priory clinic on the advice of doctors. Judge Morgan, a former editor of the Daily Mirror, said complaints that she had been thrust into the limelight with little consideration for her welfare "ridiculous". He said: "Susan's well. She's recovering well. She's getting some sleep, eating, and hopefully will be out very soon and on to record her album. She wants to live the dream. "I think she's lived in Scotland for 48 years waiting for this opportunity. What she really wants is to be reassured that her career is on track and she can make an album, which I think will be incredibly popular. "The complaints are ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Susan Boyle wanted to be on the show. She entered voluntarily." He added: "She loved 90 per cent of it. She dealt with the media brilliantly, right until the last week, when they turned on her. "When the media turn on you - and I know, I used to be an editor of one of those papers - it can be very uncomfortable. "And she found it uncomfortable and unsettling. It put her off her sleep, put her off her food. "And now the very same media that caused that in her blame the show for making her go to a clinic. Sorry guys, but the media is as much to blame as the show."
