Online visa applications: report finds Foreign Office has breached data protection act

A report was carried out by the Information Commissioner after an investigation, in May, into serious security lapses in some online applications for UK visas. Today he ruled the Foreign Office had breached the Data Protection Act after applicants' personal data, including home addresses, dates of birth and passport numbers had been visible to others visiting the affected websites. Six months on, those websites are still suspended.
