On a rookie-loaded team, perhaps the steadiest veteran in the Marlins clubhouse has been Wes Helms. The 30-year-old accepted a role to backup at first and third base. He's filled in frequently as a late-inning defensive replacement at first, and has been the club's most effective pinch-hitter.
