900 thousand trucks are on the road in Germany every day. When it gets dark, truck drivers start looking for a rest stop to spend the night. With the railway strikes, an estimated 70,000 spaces are needed. But there are only 40,000 spaces. The Federal Transport Ministry says that's enough. The transport sector professional association says that's true, but only during the day. At night, both space and sanitary facilities are inadequate. So trucks park in spaces for cars or illegally along off-ramps. And in such poorly illuminated places, sometimes the freight is stolen. Hagen Tober rode with a trucker to report on the situation.
