No love for Guru

Mike Myers has suffered a tricky return to the big screen with new comedy Love Guru. He stars as Pitka, an American raised outside his country by a group of gurus in an attempt to make him more popular with the fairer sex. Jane Bullard, the owner of an ice-hockey team, played by Jessica Alba, enlists his support to help a star player with his stress so that the team can break their losing streak. Singer Justin Timberlake also appears in the film, but despite the star-studded cast, it has received less-than-complementary reviews and has fallen short at the box office. To add to his woes, some Hindus have expressed unhappiness about how their religion is portrayed in the flick, suggesting that Hinduism has been disrespected. President of the Universal Society of Hindus, Rajan Zed, has called for Myers to publicly apologise for "stereotyping" Hindus.
