Newsvine Registrations Up 963 Percent Since Acquistion by msnbc.com

I interviewed CEO Mike Davidson about the Seattle-based social news platform at the Omma Global conference last month. Newsvine aggregates stories from both large media organizations and individual contributors around the world and lets members vote for the stories they think are most important. Placement of stories on the site is determined by the number of users' votes ad well as freshness and reputation. Newsvine drives consumption not only of news stories, but of online video: It's NBC Nightly News Discussion Club, launched in January, allows members to watch and comment on segments from the NBC Nightly News. --Kelsey Blodget, Associate Producer
