But unfortunately the fairytale romance didnt last and the pair divorced just nine months into their marriage. However, the pair remained firm friends and Joe even accompanied Marilyn to the premier of Seven Year Itch, sparking rumours of the both of them were getting back together. Despite Marilyn moving on and marrying Arthur Miller, Dimaggio remained in love with his ex wife and would remain so until his own death. It is said that the pair planned to remarry, unfortunately Marilyn sadly passed away before they were able to do so, leaving Joe heartbroken.
