Millions of people make the right choice in New York to take MTA subways, buses, and commuter rail. Yet the MTA and our elected officials in Albany think it's perfectly OK to punish us for making the right choice for the environment, with large fare hikes and service cuts possibly coming! How come they never threaten road projects? Governor Paterson, we are tired of being treated as second fiddle to car drivers. We have a budget defecit it is time those that make the largest impact on our planet, those that drive, suffer! Double tolls on bridges, get congestion pricing rolling, tax those who clog our roads with landscaping trucks! Make the MTA a more efficient operation by phasing our ticket collectors on commuter rail with a fare control system similar to Metrocard. Crackdown on overpaid management and senior conductor positions. In this time of economic downtuwn making New York less appealing is the worst thing you can do. The Governor and the NYS Senate and Assembly should do the right thing and invest in mass transit! MTA ridership is higher than its been in years. Cutting service will put those people back on the road!
