OC heart-throb Adam Brody is faced with even more family dramas when he stars opposite Meg Ryan in his new film In The Land Of Women.Brody, 27, known to millions as comic-loving geek Seth Cohen in the hit US teen drama, plays Carter Webb, an upcoming television writer living in LA who is dumped by his famous actress girlfriend in a Hollywood coffee shop.Reeling from the break-up, he takes stock of his life and runs thousands of miles away to Detroit, Michigan, to care for his ill grandmother, played by Olympia Dukakis. He finds himself involved in the lives of the Hardwicke family who live across the street by befriending the mother Sarah (Ryan) and her daughters Lucy, played by Kristen Stewart, and Paige (Makenzie Vega).Brody said he wanted to star in the film as it was a partly autobiographical screenplay written and directed by his good pal Jonathan Kasdan. He said: "Well I thought it was a fantastic script first and foremost. And it's a really nice character piece, where there's five main characters that are all richly drawn, so that's a rarity."He continued: "So as an actor it's a joy to open up a script and see that much dialogue. Well you're definitely instantly influenced by other actors you're doing the scene with. And the better actors you do the scene with the better you're going to be."The movie opens across North America on April 20.© Independent Television News Limited 2007. All rights reserved.
