Michael VICK in JAIL

Vick just can't get the answers to the questions correct! Bubba will help him out. Vick, a much-heralded player in the NFL just a couple of years ago, faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. But the plea likely calls for prosecutors to recommend a lighter sentence if Vick cooperates with the government's investigation of dog fighting on his property in Virginia, where dogs were put to death by hanging, electrocution or drowning if they did not perform well. Those details of Vick's involvement with animal cruelty struck a chord among sports fans who had become jaded after several high-profile cases of NFL players in legal trouble emerged in the past year. "You mess with an animal ... a pet in the United States, and it's kind of crazy how people really get upset about it," said Bob Dorfman, a San Francisco endorsement expert who publishes the quarterly Sports Marketers Scouting Report. "I don't think anyone expected the uproar that ensued." Vick, 27, is expected to formally enter his plea Monday. Vick's decision came after two co-defendants pleaded guilty on Friday and agreed in deals with prosecutors to testify against Vick if they were called to do so at trial. A third co-defendant pleaded guilty last month under similar conditions. "Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made," Vick's attorney, Billy Martin, said in a statement. "Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter." With his plea deal, Vick is expected to avoid more serious charges of almost entirely funding the Bad Newz Kennels operation from his rookie season of 2001 through 2007. The deal was expected to include a recommendation from prosecutors that Vick serve at least a year in prison, according to published reports.
