Some 500 clowns made their annual pilgrimage to the Basilica of Guadelupe in Mexico City on Wednesday (July 19) to pay homage to the Virgin Mary. Dressed in colourful costumes, clowns from all over Mexico walked for over two hours to attend a mass in honor of Mexico's patron saint. "We are marching to the Basilica singing, jumping with hearts like children to go and thank the Virgin of Guadelupe," said clown Pepperoni Crazyhairs. The artists are members of the Clown Club of Mexico and have been making the pilgrimage for 25 years to ask the Virgin of Guadalupe to watch over their members and their families.
