Colombian singer Juanes holds news conference in Mexico City to present his latest album, "La vida es un Ratico" (Life is a Moment). Colombian rock star, Juanes presented his new album "La Vida es un Ratico" (Life is a Moment) in Mexico City on Wednesday (October 15). The singer's fourth record is rolling out simultaneously in 77 countries around the world on Tuesday (October 23) and it already looks like a hit. The 35-year old's first single, "Me Enamora," topped Billboards's Latin Chart three weeks ago. It has become the number one single in various countries such as Colombia, Chile, Argentina, the whole of Central America and Spain. The single "Me Enamora" is about an evolving love story, according to Juanes. A new phase is discovered on a daily basis and lasts forever. This song is the soul of the production and mixes guitar rock and pop music from the 70s with Colombian music. After developing his own style, eight years after leaving the group "Ekimosis" to launch his solo career, with this album Juanes manages to consolidate his musical tastes. Juanes composed and wrote all the lyrics to the songs in the album. He postponed all stage presentations to dedicate himself entirely to his new production. He spoke about the continuing drug war in his country. He thinks that the situation is improving and lashes out at people who think Colombia is still like it was in 1980. "We live with this humiliation, we pay with the use of blood and violence, so that the rest of the world can use drugs. It's very difficult, people who are judging you for ignorance, continue to live in that Medellin of the 1980's," said Juanes during the presentation of his new album in Mexico City. He added that international intervention in the drug war is welcome. "It's a great idea, the bi-lateral dialogue is a bit worn out after so many decades of conflict. The fact that Chavez and Sarkozy are with us during this conflict, puts us in a different context. I think that we are tired in Colombia, so any political alternative that works, we are ready. If Chavez wants to generate something positive, the whole of Colombia would be happy." Several times Oscar and Grammy winner, Gustavo Santaolalla, produced the album with Juanes, who recorded some tracks in his own recording studio located in the mountains of Medellin, Colombia. The instrumental sounds, such as drum, base and keyboards were recorded in Los Angeles, California. After undergoing marital problems with his wife Karen Martinez, it seems that the separation period is over and the couple have decided to give their marriage another go. Juanes, who has won several Grammy and MTV awards among others, traveled back to his hometown, Carolina del Principe, 300 kilometers northeast of Bogota, last Friday (October 12) where a bronze statue of him was unveiled in the centre of town.
