Caribbean, afro, and electronic sounds resonate in Colombian singer Andres Cabas' latest album, "Puro Cabas" (Pure Cabas). In Mexico to promote his new release, which went on sale simultaneously in Latin America and the U.S., the Colombian singer described his music as upbeat. "I think it is food for the positive spirit. I offer happy music, music from the Caribbean, a universal production, very new, very fresh," he said. Cabas teamed up with producer Kike Santander in Miami for the track "Cadena de Oro" (Gold Chain), and also collaborated with U.S. band Black Eyed Peas on "Vamonos de aqui" (Let's get out of here). On each of his albums, Cabas has managed to incorporate a different sound, without changing his essence, which is a mix of rock and electronic music, with elements of Colombia's Caribbean music. "I think that this third one has the perfect balance. People respect my music and the fans are aware. I think that this is an album I can go places with and with which my career can evolve," the singer said of "Puro Cabas". Cabas has shared the stage with headlining artists like Lenny Kravitz, Miguel Bose and Shakira, and has won various awards and nominations including a Grammy for Best New Artist and an MTV Latino award for Best Rock Album.
