MEXICO: Bon Jovi joins Latino musicians and artists in Mexico to rock for Chapultepec forest

American rockers Bon Jovi, together with Latin American pop talents Fito Paez and Mexican artist Aleks Syntek, took part in an intimate concert in Mexico City to help raise awareness for the Chapultepec forest. The Chapultepec forest is located on Reforma Avenue in the middle of Mexico City. The forest also houses 14th century majestic Chapultepec Castle, proof of Mexico's rich history and once home to Spanish conquistador Hernan Cortes, French emperor Maximilian of Hapsburg and his wife Carlotta, as well as Dictator Porfirio Diaz. It has now been turned into a museum and important artifacts ranging for the Conquest of Mexico to the Mexican Revolution can be seen there. The concert took place in the 18th-century colonial museum, Antiguo Colegio de San Idelfonso, in the centre of buzzing Mexico City. "We are going to recover the Chapultepec forest, money will also be donated to the "Restrepo" foundation in Colombia, it's fabulous, it's a noble cause, so here we are to support this. These are colleagues (Bon Jovi and Syntek) playing their music, it's perfect," said Argentine artist Fito Paez. Both Aleks Syntek and Fito Paez delighted the audience with their best tunes. Bon Jovi teamed up with Buchanan's Whiskey in order to promote the event. "This opportunity came up and what appeared to me was this idea of broadening the philanthropic arm in a schedule that works for me because I am quite busy and Buchanan's was anxious to team up with someone like me, who is not only talking the talk, but walking the walk and it wasn't just like, 'gee let's do something for the neighborhood,'" said Bon Jovi. Some 750 people attended, who paid 5,000 pesos per ticket, of which 2.5 million pesos will be donated to the Chapultepec forest for its upkeep. The night reached its peak when Bon Jovi took to the stage and sang hits including "It's My Life" and "Livin' on a Prayer." He also performed his latest nostalgic hit "(You want to) make a memory," from the album "Lost Highway," which recently topped the U.S. album charts for the first time since 1988.
