The media regulator OFCOM has completely exonerated Channel 4 of allegations made by West Midlands Police that it misled viewers and misrepresented muslim preachers featured in a documentary 'Undercover Mosque'. OFCOM rejected all the complaints by the police and others and said the programme was a legitimate investigation uncovering matters of important public interest. The producers of the programme are now considering legal action against the police. The West Midlands force made the allegations after deciding that no criminal offences had been committed by the people filmed in the programme. They claimed that the documentary had been edited to change the meaning of the preachers' comments and that it undermined community cohesion. But today, Ofcom said Channel 4 had accurately represented the material it had gathered and dealt with the subject matter responsibly. Channel 4 said the police complaint had been perverse
