Marines launch major operation in Afghanistan
July 2: Thousands of US Marines and 650 Afghan troops have launched a major offensive in southern Helmand province, a traditional Taliban stronghold. Not since the Vietnam War have so many Marines been dropped into one area. The aim is to end the stalemate in Afghanistan that is so dangerous to American and British troops. ITV's Bill Neely reports on the operation. (Nightly News)
