March Past - Independence Day of China

Independence Day or National Days are perhaps the most important day for a nation to honor as a national holiday. For many nations the date of Independence Day may be of a battle fought to gain freedom or the birth of a national hero who helped the country in its struggle for independence. The Chinese celebrate their Independence Day on the 1st of October every year, marking the foundation of the People's Republic of China. The Central People's Government passed the Resolution on the National Day of the People's Republic of China on December 2, 1949 and declared October 1 as the National Day or Independence Day of China. China, a cultural state and ancient civilization in East Asia, is one of the world's oldest leading civilizations, consisting of states and cultures dating back more than six millennia. China is the worlds longest constantly used written language system, and also the source of many of the world's greatest inventions, including the Four Great Inventions of ancient China- Paper, the Compass, Gunpowder, and Printing. With Beijing as its capital, the Communist Party of China (CPC) has led the PRC under a one-party system since the state's establishment in 1949 China, a cultural state and ancient civilization in East Asia, is one of the world's oldest leading civilizations, consisting of states and cultures dating back more than six millennia. The deadlock of the last Chinese Civil War has resulted in two political entities using the name China: the People's Republic of China (PRC), administering mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau; and the Republic of China (ROC), administering Taiwan and its surrounding islands. It's the most populous country in the world with over 1.31 billion people. Owing to its huge population, it's rapidly growing economy, research and development, military spending and other capabilities China is emerging as a well-known superpower in the world. Nearly half of the China's economy has been privatized in the past three decades under 'Socialism with Chinese Characteristics.' The PRC is presently the world's fourth largest economy and second largest at purchasing power parity, third largest exporter and importer, and represents China as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and APEC. The National Day is the beginning of the one of the Golden Weeks in China. With the unification under the Qin Dynasty or Ch'in Dynasty in 221 BC and the Manchu Dynasty being replaced by a Republic on 1 January, 1912, October 1 is celebrated throughout mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau as the Independence Day. The merriment includes fireworks and concerts. Public places, such as Tiananmen Square in Beijing, are decorated in a festive theme and portraits of admired leaders, such as Sun Yat-Sen, are publicly displayed.
