Macedonian name change irks Greece - 18 Jan 08

For more than 15 years, Greece has fought a diplomatic battle to prevent its northern neighbour calling itself the Republic of Macedonia. Although 120 countries recognise the name, Greece believes it implies a terroritorial claim over its own province of Macedonia. It is now threatening to contest Macedonia's Nato and EU membership.
