Hello on this Monday, the 9 day of July 2007. I'm Kristin Volk in for Rebecca Field with a UPI Entertainment Update. Organizers are calling the weekend's Live Earth concert the biggest musical event ever staged. The 24-hour music marathon spanned seven continents. It included more than 100 of the biggest names in music like Bon Jovi, the Smashing Pumpkins and The Police. The concerts were backed by former Vice President Al Gore whose campaign to fight global warming internationally inspired the event. The sci-fi action adventure "Transformers" has transformed into box office gold. Since last Monday when it opened with preview screenings, the alien robots have brought in more than $152 million. That may crown "Transformers" as having the biggest first week revenues ever for a non-sequel when final numbers are released later today. In 2002, Spider-man racked in $151 million but drew more people due to today's higher ticket prices. Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria is now a married woman. At a civil ceremony in Paris on Friday, she wed professional basketball star Tony Parker. The city's mayor Bertrand Delanoe officiated the ceremony and gave a speech saying how happy he was that they were tying the knot in the City of Light. The two reportedly had a second wedding ceremony Saturday at a Paris church with a reception that followed at a chateau outside of the city. Singer Avril Lavigne is denying allegations that she stole music. The music group the Rubinoos is claiming the 22-year-old's hit single "Girlfriend" was plagiarized from their 1979 song called "I Wanna be your Boyfriend." The group's songwriters have filed a federal lawsuit against the singer. Lavigne says she's never heard that song before and their claim is based on five words. The first court date is scheduled for the end of August. Singer Clay Aiken was apparently involved in a dispute on an airplane over the weekend. Aiken took a Continental Airlines flight to Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday. An FBI special agent didn't give names, but said a former American Idol contestant was resting his foot on a woman's armrest. The woman allegedly gave Aiken a "minor shove" during the argument. Later, the singer joked on stage during his concert about being beaten up by a girl earlier in the day. No injuries were reported and the dispute didn't disturb the flight of the aircraft. Thanks for watching today's Entertainment news. Join us tomorrow for another update.
