"The Insider" was backstage Tuesday night with "American Idol" finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert after they took the stage for the last time. Kris and Adam tell "The Insider" about their excitement to be in the finals and "Idol" judge Paula Abdul explains why she thinks both finalists will be very successful in the music industry. "Kris is relevant today on the radio, pop music along the soulful John Mayer type of way," Paula says. "Then you have Adam who is the rock and glam rock god. A completely different artist. It doesn't matter who wins and who doesn't they're both going to go on and have separate distinct careers." Kris and Adam tell "The Insider" that when they took the stage on Tuesday night they weren't competing with one another, they were competing with themselves. "I think that's how we've done the whole competition," Kris says. "We have not competed with anyone. We've just competed with ourselves every week, and that's almost harder than competing with anyone else." "It doesn't matter, we both won," Adam says. "It's what we keep saying and we really both feel that way. Tonight was the final hurrah. We both worked on our songs and threw it all out on stage and America will decide." Watch the video to find out what Adam had to say about his wardrobe selection after "Idol" judge Simon Cowell compared his coat to something from "Phantom of The Opera", or 'Twilight.' The two-hour "American Idol" finale airs Wednesday night on FOX at 8 p.m.
