Press Release May 4, 2007 Kraychir Breaks Record Again Claremont California – Casey Kraychir once again breaks the girls freshman high school national hammer record. On a cold and windy day when most athletes were looking for warmth, Kraychir was on fire. After requesting a steel tape be on hand before the competition, Claremont College Head Coach John Goldhammer made sure the officials were ready just in case Kraychir threw over 170’2”, which was her previous national record. On the fifth round of the competition Kraychir unleashed the ball and wire 173’4” to set a new girls freshman high school national hammer record. With her hammer immediately confiscated by the judges, Kraychir had to borrow another competitors hammer for her sixth throw. Her sixth and last throw was further by about two feet. As the field judges ran toward the ball deeply imbedded in the grass, the ring judge yelled out “Foul.” Everyone in attendance clapped and congratulated this incredible effort, including the judges. Kraychir broke Allison Horner’s existing record of 159’9” at the prestigious Mt Sac Relays three weeks ago. Kraychir has increased the old national freshman girls hammer record by 13’7”, which places her 13th all time in the United States and first in the State of California. Twentynine Palms high school junior Trent Kraychir, Casey’s older brother, also had a personal best throw of 213’4”, which increases his best mark by over two feet; he currently has the fifth furthest throw in the United States. Trevor Kraychir (senior) and Katie Kraychir (8th grade) struggled in the cold weather with throws over their personal bests, however they fouled on each.
