Kombai Women Collecting Sago

Kombai Women Collecting Sago

These girls are Berna & Mapi, Kombai girls living in the heart of West Papua. They still live a stone-age life as their ancestors did thousands of years ago. Claypot and metal are unknown to the Kombai. Every 3 or 4 days, they pound a sago tree to get the pulp and extract it by the river to get the flour. They can get 2 big lumps of flour that last their family for 2 to 3 days.
