Karadzic's brother: What's being blamed on us didn't happen

Wartime Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is due to appear in front of the International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia later. Mr Karadzic, who is representing himself, failed to appear at the start of his trial on Monday, saying he needs at least nine months to prepare his defence. However, judges have said they will proceed without him if he fails to appear. He faces 11 charges of genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity relating to the 1992-1995 Bosnian war, including one over the 43-month siege of Sarajevo, and two for the massacre at Srebrenica, but he denies all of them. On Monday, the judge adjourned the case for a day, and requested Mr Karadzic to appear on Tuesday. Protesters outside the court in the Hague reacted angrily to Karadzic's boycott, some complaining that the former psychiatrist was trying to dictate terms to the court. He is due in court again on Tuesday. "It is a mockery," said Jasna Causevic, of the group Society for Threatened Peoples, who stood with members of about 20 victims groups around a banner with the names of more than 8,000 victims killed at Srebrenica and the words "Europe's Shame". "Karadzic should be brought in pyjamas to the court," said Salihovic Nedziba, 56, a Bosnian Muslim from Srebrenica. "I need to be told who killed my husband and son."
