Hip-hop star Kanye West will close this year's MTV Video Music Awards in a surprise move. He vowed never to perform at MTV's VMAs after his treatment at last year's show, when he was 'relegated' to a small stage in the Las Vegas venue. The rapper failed to win any prizes and he accused MTV of exploiting US pop princess Britney Spears. West along with Christina Aguilera and teen sensation the Jonas Brothers will perform an explosive finale. Others performers named by the organisers include R&B singer Rihanna and Detroit rocker Kid Rock. Aguilera will be singing a special rendition of Genie in a Bottle in her first televised performance since giving birth earlier this year. The 25th annual music awards ceremony will be hosted by British actor and comedian Russell Brand and Spears who will not be performing. The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards is set to air live from Paramount Pictures on Sunday, September 7.
