Ovi allows users to store and share multimedia content. The mapping element will provide important context for users, says Kamar Shah, head of global head of industry and marketing for Nokia. We interviewed him at the AlwaysOn conference on Wednesday. Some observers, including Nancy Goring at Network World, wonders if Ovi can compete with established players. Perhaps the mapping component will power the online service. Smartphones Powering Online Video The Nokia N95 is becoming part of the Internet social networking phenomenon, Shah says. He cites news gathering and the use of the device by 50 Cent and others. Users can stream live video or e-mail pictures to friends. The evolution of social networking with the context of activity and location will be very important for Nokia in the future, he says. --Kelsey Blodget, Associate Producer http://www.beet.tv/2008/07/right-here-righ.html
