Chapter 49 Part 3: *Joes POV* I eventually fell asleep after Kim left but then I had the craziest dream I walked out of my bedroom, but the house was empty, so I assumed everyone as out. I walked out to the living room, but was surprised when I saw who was sitting on the couch. "Kim?" She looked up from the television. "Hey Joe!" She smiled at me and went back to watching TV. I tilted my head and looked at her. "So, what are you doing?" Why was she on my couch? Waiting. She said simply. She didnt seem mad at me, so I sat down on the couch next to her. She smiled at me, so I put my arm around her shoulder. Joe, what are you doing? She asked as she shook off my arm. I didnt really have an answer. We cant do that anymore Joe. You broke up with me, remember? She asked. She looked away from me and back to the television, but for some reason, she didnt seem upset. I was quiet for a second before I broke the silence between us. Um, what are you waiting for? Someone. She said with a smirk. I was about to ask her who this mystery someone was she was waiting for when there was a knock at the door. Hes here! Kim said. She handed me the remote to the television and walked over to the door. She fixed her dress and her hair before she opened the door. Kim smiled at the person. Hey David. My jaw dropped. D-David?!? I stood up so I could walk over to the doorway, but it was like my feet couldnt move and I was glued to where I was standing. I watched in shock as David came in and hugged Kim and she hugged him back. Kim, what are you doing? I managed to spit out. Going out with David, of course. What does it look like? She said casually. What?!? How could you be doing this? Kim, he hurt you! I yelled. I was in shock and no matter what I tried; my feet stayed glued to the floor so I couldnt get to Kim and stop her. Joe, Kim said calmly. Im doing this for you. Dont you remember what you said? You wanted David to get me, so I am making that happen. This is all for you. She smiled at me before she turned to David. Ready to go? she asked him. He smiled at her. Definitely. Kim, dont do this! Please! Dont go! I kept yelling as she put on her coat and walked out the door with David, but before she closed it she looked at me. Joe, this is all for you. This is what you wanted. She smiled and closed the door. As soon as it was shut, I could move my feet. I immediately ran to the door and tried to open it, but it wouldnt budge. It was like a horror movie where all the doors lock and you cant get anywhere. I pulled on the doorknob with all my might, but nothing. I started banging on the door as I kept trying to open it and could feel tears building. Kim! Come back! This is not what I wanted! Please, come back! I didnt mean what I said! Just come back! All of a sudden, I woke up from my dream and shot up in bed in a cold sweat trying to catch my breath. *Kims POV* Nick just kept looking into my eyes and I thought he was going to say something so I just stayed quiet, but that is not what happened. He totally caught me off guard as he leaned in and kissed me. I was in shock at first, but my brain finally kicked in after a few seconds and I pulled away, but Nick kept our foreheads touching. Nick, I-I Please? he whispered. Before I could say anything he leaned in and softly kissed me again, but this time with more passion. He moved his right hand to the back of my neck and used his left arm to gently pull me closer to him. So many thoughts were running through my head all at once that I didnt know what to do, but there was one thought that kept popping into my head. I pulled away from Nick and looked at the floor. He pushed some hair behind my ear before he put his hands on my waist. Whats the matter? he whispered. I could tell by the sound of his voice how much he cared, and I knew what I was going to say next was going to break his already broken heart. I-I cant W-What about Joe I said it so softly that I wasnt sure Nick heard me. What about him? I could sense a bit of anger in his voice that he was trying to hide. Kim, he broke your heart! I mean, he just tore it to pieces right in front of you! He said he hated you to your face. How could Joe possibly matter? Nick, its not like Im over him, I still love him. I said as I looked up at him. He cupped my face in his hands and brought his forehead to mine. Kim, I love you more than he ever could. I would never break your heart like he did! Just give me a chance. He leaned in to kiss me again, but I grabbed his hands and stopped him. Nick, I just— Its fine. He threw my hands off of his. Whatever. He started to put his coat on. I could feel tears stinging my eyes and I didnt think I could take it if a lost another best friend. Nick, please dont be mad at me. I begged. Its just— Just forget I was ever here Kim. But when you realize that you cant get back with Joe, I might not be there waiting. Nick walked out the door and I flinched as it slammed behind him.
