Jun 11: 'Clean up banks!' says Alistair Darling
The British finance minister, Alistair Darling, is calling on G20 members to deliver on the promises they made to clean up banks. Speaking to Chris Giles, economics editor, the Chancellor says that credit is essential in every developed economy. Turning to rising oil prices he tells Opec members that "we're all in this together," explaining that it's in oil producers' interests to find an oil price that suits consumers as both are being affected by the worldwide economic slump.
