Joint Research Centre, Ispra

Three of the seven Institutes of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission are located in Ispra, Italy. They provide research-based policy support to the development and the implementation of European policies. In line with the JRC mission, the aim of the three JRC Institutes (Institute for Health and Consumer Protection, Institute for Environment and Sustainability and Institute for the Protection and the Security of the Citizen) is to provide scientific and technical support to European Union strategies for the protection of the environment, contributing to a sustainable development of Europe.
