Jimmy closes Top Of The Pops

Jimmy Saville is back on the box, but sadly he could not fix it for Top Of The Pops to continue. He joined up with a host of TV favourites over the years to bring the BBC's long running music show to a close. DJ Tony Blackburn was one of them and he was among fans who dressed up as their rock and pop idols, but sadly didn't get to see any superstars on stage. The final recording takes a trip down memory lane - featuring performances from the likes of The Rolling Stones and Robbie Williams. And after 42-years on the trot Top Of The Pops has lasted longer than most. The show's curtain call signals the end of an era and the BBC blame declining viewing figures on the show's demise.
