Hollywood heart-throb Leonardo DiCaprio arrived at Jerusalem's Western Wall plaza late Monday (March 12) accompanied by his Israeli girlfriend, model Bar Rafaeli. Fans and media crowded the plaza for hours awaiting his arrival. DiCaprio and Rafaeli arrived in Israel Saturday (March 10) night, flying in from Frankfurt to discover 17 Israeli journalists on their flight returning from a musical in Ireland. Since their arrival media paparazzi have camped out outside Rafaeli's home near Tel Aviv, hoping to catch a glimpse of the famous couple. The visit was marked by scuffles between photographers and security guards at the site. According to Jerusalem Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby, security guards involved in the incident were detained after complaints of violence from photographers at the scene. There were no reports of serious injuries. Earlier Monday, the couple toured Israel's Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum and memorial in Jerusalem, according to Israeli media, before arriving at the Western Wall plaza, where they were given a private tour of the Western Wall tunnel. The Western Wall is the retaining wall of the destroyed Jewish temples, and the last standing remnant of the holiest site to Jews.
