Liu Qi, Secretary General of Beijing Communist party and the head of the organising committee of the 2008 Beijing Olympic games, met Israeli leaders on Tuesday (November 22) during his four-day visit to the Jewish state. Israeli Foreign Ministry Tzipi Livni had invited Liu Qi hoping to strengthen relations between China and Israel. Liu Qi met Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and later Vice Premier Shimon Peres in Jerusalem. The Chinese delegation will also visit reserach centres, factories and other industry fascilities across the country, in a bid to promote economical and industrial ties between the countries.
