Ithmaar Group Yalla Bahrain! Ithmaar Group Yalla Bahrain! Returns Bigger and Better in 2007! The 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix saw an innovation in the cultural and community involvement behind a Grand Prix: the month-long Yalla Bahrain! festival. These spectacular events brought the people of Bahrain and the wider GCC closer to the sport than any other community in the world, through the array of opportunities created by the Bahrain International Circuit, Capital Governate and the Formula One teams, under the patronage of Bahrain's Economic Development Board. Thousands of visitors enjoyed the Yalla Bahrain! Motorsport Art Exhibition at the Bahrain National Museum, opened by Honda Racing F1 driver Rubens Barrichello in the presence of His Highness the Crown Prince Shaikh Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Over 1500 fans met Honda Racing F1 driver Jenson Button at the Seef Mall, taking home autographs, photographs and a few words from the British race winner. During the public day at Formula One testing, 1500 fans enjoyed another autograph session with Felipe Massa and the rest of the Scuderia Ferrari team. A further 20,000 turned out for the Yalla Bahrain! F1 Festival, when the sight and sound of racing cars filled the Corniche on the King Faisal Highway and were followed by breathtaking aerobatics and a musical firework extravaganza. The Yalla Bahrain! schedule went on up to and including the race weekend itself. It was as innovative as it was exciting, and was one of the key factors that has led Formula One supreme Bernie Ecclestone to hold up the 2006 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix as the example that other countries should follow around the world; both among countries hoping to join the calendar and among more established races in Europe.
