"The Devil Wears Prada", has been in cinemas across the United States since July, and is only now reaching Europe. Helping its launch, actresses Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, along with Stanley Tucci and director David Frankel attended the movie's press conference at the Venice Film Festival on Thursday (September 7). Based on the international best-selling novel by Lauren Weisberger, "The Devil Wears Prada" , the movie tells of a world where trends come and go and where thin is in. Anne Hathaway's character is a fashion-challenged girl who gets a job at top notch fashion magazine 'Runway'..She gets a helping hand from Nigel, a top powerplayer at Runway Magazine. Nigel helps Andy revamp herself and appreciate her position as an assistant to the most powerful woman in the fashion industry. The film takes viewers through the whimsical ups and downs of the fashion world, while Hathaway learns to walk in her Manolos and differentiate between Dolce and Gabbana. But viewers also see a young woman's struggle to get ahead in the business world, while retaining her identity and struggling to stay true to what she believes in. 'The Devil Wears Prada' stars Meryl Streep as Hathaway's boss Miranda Priestly - a character who, in the book, is based on American Vogue editor Anna Wintour. Asked whether she based her interpretation of Priestly on Wintour, Streep declined. "I never considered making her English or in any way remotely like Anna Wintour because that felt too constricting and I wanted to have complete free reign in creating the character and David let me do that to a certain extent and most of my models for this character are American," she said. 'The Devil Wears Prada' is screening at the Venice Film Festival out of competition.
