ITALY: Hundreds line streets outside Italian castle hoping to catch glimpse of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes on day they tie the knot

Hundreds of Bracciano residents lined the streets into their medieval town on Saturday (November 18) in the hope of seeing Tom Cruise arrive for his wedding ceremony at the Odescalchi castle. Barricades held back the people from the road side and police and civil protection officers were on call to make sure everything runs smoothly. In the piazza outside the castle, where the scientology ceremony will take place, a similar scenario was underway with local residents taking up prime positions to try and get a glimpse of the wedding convoy. The first car arrived shortly after 1000g with a smiling Roberta Armani waving from the car window. Niece of Italian designer Giorgio Armani she is believed to have been travelling with the all important wedding dress. Opera singer Andrea Bocelli arrived a little later, driving through the small entrance into the castle grounds and others followed throughout the early afternoon. Katie Holmes and a group of close family and friends arrived at the castle on Saturday afternoon. A small group of 40 people were expected to have lunch in the castle garden before the ceremony takes place later in the day but a downfall of rain may put pay to that plan. Police and local residents sheltered under umbrellas as many decided it was worth braving the downpour in order to catch a glimpse of the stars arriving.
