ISRAEL: Israeli raid into Gaza Strip

The Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, has accused Israel of waging "all-out war" after its forces launched their biggest raid into the Gaza strip for months - killing 8 people, including five militants. There were clashes between Palestinian gunmen and Israeli forces - who'd surrounded the town of Beit Hanoun at dawn. Military officials said the operation was designed to stop rockets being fired into Israel - but President Abbas described the action as "despicable." GVs raid
