Israel Intensifies Its Response Against Terror, As the Countdown For President Bush's Visit Begins

At Sunday's cabinet meeting Defense Minister Ehud Barak instructed the security forces to escalate their activities against the terror infrastructure in Gaza and Judea and Samaria. Prime Minister Ehud Olmert described the recent katyusha rocket attack on northern Ashkelon a severe escalation. Meanwhile the countdown is on for the arrival of the US President George Bush to the region on Wednesday. While Olmert stressed the need to receive Bush with the respect he is worthy of, Jerusalemites are preparing for the American President's three day visit and the heavy security presence in the capital and having to contend with sealed off roads and traffic jams.01/06/08
