Interview: Joe Drumgoole of PutPlace. Secure, Organise and Share your Digital Life.

We caught up with Joe Drumgoole at the Firefox 3 launch party in Dublin, where PutPlace was one of the sponsors. PutPlace solves a problem which is growing in significance for everyday computer users: how to secure and manage your digital stuff. Traditionally, we tend to think of data backup in relation to business. But the personal digital archives of individuals are no less valuable, although that value may not be monetary. Digital photographs, movies, music: these are are often priceless to the people who own them. Joe points out that the physical media which hold our digital memories are all too fragile. PutPlace, which has been in development for over 2 years, offers an online backup solution for home users to Secure , Organise and Share their digital archives. They've just completed a private beta and the service is now open for public beta trial. PutPlace was started by Joe and initially funded by him. Through the assistance of Brian Caulfield the company secured VC funding, and Brian is now a director of PutPlace. The initial development phase of the company is accomplished with the launch of the public beta and PutPlace is now moving into a marketing phase.
