Indiana Jones Kingdom Crystal Skull - Review - idgoBack.com

. http://www.idgoBack.com "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" whipped up $25 million on an opening day that promised a strong Memorial Day weekend showing in the U.S., says a box office tracking firm. The movie's domestic receipts were impressive for a Thursday opening but fell far short of the record $50 million collected by "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" in 2005, Media By Numbers president Paul Dergarabedian said. Dergarabedian said "Star Wars" had a younger audience that was more enthusiastic about seeing the movie during its Thursday opening. The older fans of "Indiana Jones" are more likely to come out after the movie has been in theatres a few days or even weeks, he said. "The demographics of this film across the board definitely trend older because of the nostalgia factor," Dergarabedian said. Paramount Pictures, which made the film, declined to confirm its opening day box office figure. "Indiana Jones" opened early Thursday in 4,260 theatres, according to Media By Numbers. "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," the first film in 19 years about the archeologists-adventurer played by Harrison Ford, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this month to wan reviews.
