CHILDHOPE ASIA PHILIPPINES is a non- profit, non government organization that works to protect and uphold the rights of the street children in the Philippines and in the asian region as well. The eight - minute video features Childhope's banner program, the OUTREACH and PROTECTION / EDUCATION ON THE STREETS PROGRAM. The Outreach/ Education and Protection on the Streets Program provides counselling and alternative and basic education to 1,500 - 2,000 street children in more than 11 areas in Metro Manila. Through trained individuals and social workers working as Street Educators, the street children are provided with non- formal/ alternative education and direct access to basic social services. These includes couselling, alternative education and basic literacy and numeracy, health and care recreation, legal protection and referral services. Though the Outreach and Protection / Education on the Streets Program, the street children are provided protection from abuse, opportunities to develop knowledge and the risk encountered on the streets, develop positive behavior, gain / improve their life skills and capacities, and eventually assist them to leave the streets. In so doing, the organization has advocated and established, maintained and strengthen partnership with other groups, individuals, agencies and other sectors of the society.
