US celebrity socialite Paris Hilton is in a medical unit at Los Angeles County Jail. The 26-year-old is being assessed by doctors after a judge ordered she return to prison to finish her 45-day sentence for breaking parole. The hotel heiress was earlier allowed home to serve out her punishment under house arrest but a furious LA judge demanded she re-appear before the court before sending her back to jail.Hilton, who was released on Thursday after spending just three days inside, was stunned by Supreme Court Judge Michael Sauer's decision and wailed "Mom, Mom, it's not right" as she was escorted away by sheriff's deputies. She was earlier taken into court in handcuffs from her Hollywood Hills mansion on the order of the judge and entered the courtroom dishevelled and crying. The party girl - who was given a jail term after being caught driving her Bentley without a valid licence, a violation of her probation for a prior drunken-driving offence - wore no makeup and cried throughout the hearing. Her body also shook constantly as she dabbed at her eyes. Several times she turned to her parents who were seated behind her in the courtroom and mouthed the words: "I love you."Hilton's early release from her cell at Los Angeles County Jail's Lynwood lockup on Thursday morning for unspecified medical reasons infuriated Judge Sauer and sparked outrage in the US.Judge Sauer told the court on Friday: "I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions. At no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home on Kings Road."Ordered to attend court, she emerged from her four-bedroom, three-bathroom home wearing sunglasses and stopped to hug her mother and some friends before getting into the police car.As it attempted to get through hoards of awaiting paparazzi, a tannoy blasted "Move out of the way, Move out of the way" at the crowds of snappers and onlookers.Sheriff Lee Baca, who freed Hilton on Thursday, reacted angrily to the judge's decision. He said: "The issue of special treatment regarding my decision to release Miss Hilton to home detention after serving five days of her sentence was based on her severe medical problems."She was initially placed in custody without any forewarning to me about her medical condition. The sheriffs and county medical staff evaluated her increasing deterioration and provided me with a report, upon Miss Hilton's approval."This is the evidence that this lady has some severe problems. In my opinion, now that she's back in custody, we will continue to keep her there. The criminal justice system should not create a football out of Miss Hilton's status."© Independent Television News Limited 2007. All rights reserved.
