High Quality Federer v Murray US Open Final 2008

Roger Federer cruises to his 5th successive win at the US Open. Murray gave us Brits hope for a while that we had a player that might have the balls and the grit, determination, motivation, fitness, skill and talent to win a Grand Slam. Not since 1936 can we claim this to be true, yet once again were disappointed Murray, although a fighter, and skilful, executing some brilliant shots, did not have the aggressive play needed to win. We need a player with all of the above, and muscle power. Although he did show off his biceps in a previous match, I think he needs to beef up a lot to make it. Federer showed his true brilliance, and Murray did make him fight to bring out the best in him. The sheer fast pace of the court and players entertained, but was over too quick in my mind. John McEnroe had the fight to battle his way from almost losing sets, but although I hoped when Murray was 5-0 down in the third set, I knew he didn't have it in him. Well done to Federer. A deserving champion, awesome is too weak a word for him.
