If you actually want to know whats going on, then read the narrations from here: (before the beginning) Narrator: Hernando Cortes was born in southwestern Spain in 1485 to a middle class family. In 1504, Cortes sailed to the island of Hispaniola where he became a farmer and a soldier. There he met soldier Diego Velazquez and the two conquered Cuba. Cortes became the mayor of Cuba and become close friends with Valazquez. Hernando Cortes is a famed Spanish explorer who, through rough leadership and excessive methods, conquered much of the Aztec empire. His story begins in the year of 1517. (after the Velazquez and Cortes scene) Narrator: Cortes rushed to the seaport, and sailed off with his men before Velazquez could intervene. He set off for the Yucatan peninsula, and began sailing along the shore in search of the Aztec empire. Cortes landed near an area close to what is now Tabasco, and there he ran into a native tribe. (after the native is captured) Narrator: It was from this tribe that Cortes and his men captured a beautiful native princess whom he trained to become his translator. From this tribe, he learnt more of the vast empire located further inland. Narrator: So Cortes set off with his 500 men, in search of the wealthy Aztec nation. (after Cortes talking to himself) Narrator: When Cortes landed on the coast he burned down all but a few of his ships, just enough to fit the crew onto. He kept these ships closer to him, to crush all hopes of retreat. His men had no choice but to advance into the unknown territory.
