Healthcare without borders (long version)

Rules for receiving cross-border healthcare and for getting its costs reimbursed are now not entirely clear or easy to understand. This is why the European Commission has developed a proposal for a legal instrument that will better clarify the conditions under which healthcare abroad could be provided and its costs reimbursed. Filmed in Germany (Frankfurt) and in the Netherlands (Maastricht), this video shows cases of patients traveling in order to receive medical care abroad, as well as the EU-funded Baltic eHealth project in Denmark, which with the help of new technologies is enabling Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Estonia and Lithuania to connect their networks and share medical data.
