Health - Resistance to antibiotics

A new scientific network is launched today, supported by the EUÂ’s Research Framework Programme, to tackle the increasing problem of resistance to antibiotics when dealing with lower respiratory tract infections. This Network of Excellence, GRACE, will pool European expertise and excellence in this field to increase knowledge, ensure the practical application of any research findings, develop new diagnostic tests and improve education and training. The network brings together 17 academic groups, from 9 EU Member States. In conjunction with this launch, the audiovisual service of the European commission proposes an infoclip containing the following images: Exterior shots of the Etterbeek hospital, Brussels which is part of the Iris Sud group of hospitals, Belgium: - Young patients suffering from chest infections; - Doctors examining several young patients; - Nurses administrating antibiotics.
