In a world of ultrasound and lasers - keyhole surgery and face transplants - you'd think leeches had had their day. But the centuries old treatment still has a place in modern medicine. And David Isitt - from the Isle of Dogs - can thank them for saving his leg. His leg would have been amputated - if it hadn't been for the leeches. Doctors at the Royal London Hospital used them to restore the blood supply.
