HEALTH: Cot deaths could be caused by faulty gene

Ground breaking research from the US has suggested that there could be a genetic cause for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS aka cot deaths). Scientists in Boston found that babies who died mysteriously in their sleep had a brain abnormality which meant their bodies failed to react when starved of oxygen. Their research may mean that in future it will be possible to identify those babies at risk.
