The well-recognised Golden Globe statue has been given a facelift ahead of next week's ceremony. Hollywood Foreign Press Association President Jorge Camara unveiled the new Golden Globe statue at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. Camara explained that it had taken two years to reach the final desgin which includes a marble base. "The idea for a Golden Globe encircled with a strip of motion picture film and mounted on a pedestal won. We have spent two years working with society Awards in New York to finalise the design and production of the statues," he said. "There is really not much change in the design, only small details to improve the design and it's basically the same Globe with strip of film around it," he added. This year's award show will also present the first-ever Cecil B DeMille Award, to be given to Steven Spielberg. The award consists of an angel standing on top of a Golden Globe with a black crystal vase. British film Happy-Go-Lucky is up for nomination for the Best Comedy or Musical and Sally Hawkins is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. Danny Boyle has been nominated for best director on Slumdog Millionaire.
