Gidon Bromberg: Peace Through Environmental Activism

Gidon Bromberg, director of EcoPeace / Friends of the Earth Middle East, works to find common ground through innovative environmental initiatives. Bromberg believes that stewardship of the Jordan River, a water source shared by Israelis, Jordanians and Palestinians, can serve as a new model for transnational cooperation for the region, and will share plans for a Peace Park in the historic Jordan Valley area, at the border of Jordan and Israel. Peace Park collaborators Alan Plattus, Yale Urban Design Workshop, and Shimon Anisfeld, environmental scientist, will join the discussion to share design ideas and ecological imperatives related to the proposed park and river revitalization project. This is a featured video broadcast of a lecture originally presented on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at the Yale Center for British Art as part of the 2008 International Festival of Arts & Ideas. The event was co-presented with the Yale World Fellows Program.
